Captain or no captain, my goals remain same: Ganguly

Life has come to a full circle for Sourav! He has seen the zenith as well as nadir in Indian cricket. Dizzy height of Success, bathos of failure, controversy, and conspiracy – all came by turn in his flamboyant cricketing career. Same Pakistan tour, same side -Team India !

But today time has gone awry dramatically for someone who led team India to a historic series win in Pakistan last year. Stripped of captaincy in a very controversial ruthless way, and recalled in the side after much hullabaloo, the dethroned skipper, however, assures that his goals remain more or less the same this time.

''I think the goal is pretty much the same. When I came here last time, I wanted to perform and wanted the team to win. It's the same this time. So the goals haven't changed really,'' Ganguly told the Press.

Saying that a captain is as good as his team, Sourav said, ''Even when you are captain, you are only successful when every member of the team does well. It going to be the same this time. It's more or less the same team, the same bunch of boys. I'm sure it's going to be a successful stint for us.''

He indicated that he was ready to live life without captaincy. Sourav said, ''I think, whether you are the captain or not, playing for the country is the biggest motivation. That's what you look to do as a cricketer and if you are the captain, that's just a bonus.''

''I think, just playing for the country is a huge motivation for each and every cricketer,'' He said.
In any question related to the recent controversies Sourav opines unequivocally, ''those things have not been in my control. My job is to play the game and I've been doing that for the last three-four months and I just want to keep on continuing that.''

On the forthcoming Pakistan series, Sourav states that the whole team was looking forward to the challenge.
