you brought a new high of unity and camaraderie in Indian team which
was very much unheard of during the tenure of your predecessor . At
any point of time you backed your boys. You went so much so even at the
cost of your own interest! There lies your folly .it is always dangerous
to be too good in this world. You trenched your own graveyard.How ?
In one day cricket Sourav –Sachin
combination was a matter of nightmare to any bowler in the world. Sourav
–Sachin opening partnership made a lot of records. you left your best
batting place for the greater interest of team and promoted
Sehwag in batting order .you came down to middle order . India lost the
enigma of Sourav –Sachin left-right batting combo and you lost
your usual flair .
When you were a just team members , you used
to bowl and you became the "man with a golden arm " since you
used to give Indian team a necessary breakthrough in right time . In
Canada against Pakistan 6 match series, you became the darling of Indian
cricket lovers since in both bowling and batting you excelled and as a
result out of six matches you became man of the match in 5 matches!
A record indeed! But the talent you had in bowling got rusted
since you did not bowl much when you became captain .had you bowled
regularly , India might have got one more great all rounder after Kapil
Dev .
You were
too concerned of your boys and their rights, interest! On several occasion
you fought with board members supporting your players .Board members did
not take it well and waited for right time to take the avenge . you went
extra mile for your players keeping yourself off guarded . a mistake
indeed .
