Mentors of Sourav Ganguly :-
His young age Coach:
We first want to show our
gratitude to the coach in Sourav's young age ---Mr.Debu Mitra .
Had he not identified this
diamond of Indian Cricket in his budding stage, we millions of cricket
lovers might have missed a glittering gem in Indian cricket crown!
He nurtured Sourav's in his budding days and helped Sourav to blossom .Behind today's Indian cricket icon --Sourav Ganguly , definitely a lot of effort of his young age coach ,had been put in those moulding years . To climb to Everest, you have to move the first step in base camp. Likewise Mr. Mitra mentored young Sourav in his early days helping him to reach a glorious height in Indian cricket .
Sambaran Banerjee :
A very successful Bengal
wicket keeper and under his captaincy , Bengal won Ranji trophy .But he
did not get India cap since Said Kirmani – the best wicket keeper Indian
cricket ever produced , was in his heyday then .
Down but not out! Sambaran
came back as selector and he was instrumental in selection of Sourav Ganguly
in 1996 England tour .There was a lot of hue and cry by labeling Sourav as
Sambaran's "quota" player .
In second test, Sourav
by happenstance got selected in first eleven and then captain Azharudin
sent him as one down in green, early morning wicket of Lords . The rest
was history -- as Sourav made a marvelous knock of 131 at Lords! And then
in very next test at Nottingham again he made a resplendent 136!
No looking back anymore.
Sambaran's "quota" player started his long illustrious golden
saga in Indian cricket and Sambaran Banerjee proved all critics wrong.
Had Sambaran that very day not
fought for Sourav –seemingly an unknown face then, we may not have so
much scope to write on Sourav !
Sambaran showed in the field his fighting spirit from the front and so did he as selector off the fieled. We owe a lot to him for giving true Indian cricket lovers a chance to enjoy Sourav's flamboyant left handed batting and delicate off drive.

terms of exuberance for sports .Conscious
cricket loving crowd of Kolkata whole heartedly supported this great sun
of the soil. They are always there with Sourav in ups and downs of their
loving –"Dada" .
Sourav is very lucky to get such a rock solid strong supporters who played, more often than not a pivotal role in his performance as emotional cushion.
