Is it the swan song ? what ex cricketers say

Let us hear from former India cricketers...

---------------------
"No I don't think it is the end of the road for him just yet. He can always come back. It will definitely hamper his chances to play in the Test series against Australia but if he can do well in the Ranji Trophy this year for Bengal he can surely stage a comeback to the national team."
Will Ganguly play in the first Test against Australia?
"It all depends on the Irani Trophy game. If Kaif or Parthiv score big then you never know what will happen. At this stage, it looks difficult that he will play."

- Nayan Mongia
Former India wicketkeeper batsman

------------------------------
"It is never the end of the road until the player calls it quits himself. As long as they (the senior players) are fit, they are the best players we have who can score big 100s and 200s. The youngsters are good, no doubt, but they lack what the seniors have. Obviously the seniors will be fazed out but the question is when?"
"I feel Ganguly should go back to domestic cricket and perform big. Nobody can stop him from going out of the game on his own terms. Scoring 30 at domestic level (like in the case of Kaif) is equal to 100 in international cricket. Fab Four should continue unless there is a fitness problem. I don't think the youngsters would have done well in the Tests in Lanka either. We have to persist with the seniors."
Will Ganguly play in the first Test against Australia?
"Yes I am most certain. I personally feel we do not have a good enough replacement for Ganguly at this stage."

- Anshuman Gaekwad
Former India batsman

------------------------------
"Firstly I don't know on what basis they have dropped Ganguly. I am not sure if they have rested him or dropped him and don't understand the intention. He (Sourav) should be in both the ODI and the Test team in my opinion. I hope he gets some good rest now and gets ready for the big series against Australia at home."
"He has more than enough cricket left in him. You cannot handle someone like Sourav Ganguly in this manner. You (the selectors) have to give him a deserving send off, give him a time frame to call it quits.
Will Ganguly play in the first Test against Australia?
"It looks increasingly difficult. Let us hope for his sake that he does get picked. But I can tell for sure – it is not the end of the road for Ganguly"

- Syed Kirmani
Former India wicketkeeper batsman

------------------------------
"It is the end of the road for Sourav Ganguly. The Irani Trophy game is not a trial game. It is serious business and it is a virtual Test squad. They (the selectors) have sent a strong message to Ganguly and I am pretty sure that Ganguly's career is more or less finshed."
"The future does not look good for Ganguly. It is going to be difficult for him to stage a comeback."
Will Ganguly play in the first Test against Australia?
"No, Kaif will play against Australia. But if he does not get enough runs against Delhi in the Irani Trophy game, then Badrinath or Raina may come in."

- Kiran More
Former India wicketkeeper batsman

------------------------------
"I think it is the end of the road for Sourav Ganguly. He has not performed in Sri Lanka and this is an angry reaction from the selectors."
"However I feel he deserves another chance. I think they (the selectors) are not doing justice to Sourav Ganguly. They can't select Mohammad Kaif ahead of Sourav Ganguly. It is utter nonsense"
"It is a disgrace that a bunch of 'non cricketers' selectors are deciding the fate of a great batsman who has played over 100 Tests. I feel sad for Sourav Ganguly. But yes it is the end of the road for Sourav Ganguly. I don't see him coming back.
Will Ganguly play in the first Test against Australia?
"Suresh Raina will replace Sourav Ganguly for the first Test. I have no doubts in my mind about that. It should be a direct swap – left-hander for left-hander."

- Chetan Sharma
Former India medium pace bowler

------------------------------
"I don't think it is end of the road. When he was out earlier (2 years back), nobody thought he would make comeback. He should play Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy and not give up hope yet."
"Let us be honest Ganguly doesn't have to prove anything in a trial game (the Irani Trophy game). He has been there, done that and should be given another go."
Will Ganguly play in the first Test against Australia?
"It depends on the Irani Trophy. If Kaif performs, then it becomes difficult for Sourav."

- Lalchand Rajput
Former India batsman
