Sourav
is a man of steel nerve with great determination and rock solid
courage who believes in lead from the front .he is a
typical crab like cancerian who never gives up till the end .
Sourav is an interesting blend of deeply religious persona with his
xaverian élan and exuberance.
His
marriage script was written typically in bollywood hindi movie love
story style where he was married to Dona, childhood sweet heart
and a next-door neighbour to the Ganguly family. fathers
were once friends but the relationship was strained and the young couple
got married under cover. Like typical Hindi movie love story where the
hero and heroine are separated by their parents and so they run off to
get married. And like the movie ends their families too reconciled but
only in the end i.e. after the marriage.
One
interesting fact is that the first thing Saurav does after he checks
into a hotel room is to place the portrait of goddess Kali and the
picture of his wife Dona on his bed side table. For this Bengal Tiger
there is nothing more relaxing than watching Dona (his wife who is a
classical dancer) perform a dance routine.
Saurav is believes that
" marriage helps in improving a player's game; that it is important
to have a 'good stable life to play the game properly."
Dona says Saurav was her
best friend and that she fell for the man, much before he became a
cricketer. She married him despite violent opposition from her parents
at initial stage.
