A bad news in a good day
Time to write the obituary....RIP for his ODI career ! It is being written in
his birth day, today -8th July, 2008.
Perhaps the career of one of the most prolific run scorers in ODI history ,Sourav
Ganguly is all over in limited over cricket.
The national selection committee has short listed thirty probables for the ICC
Champions Trophy, to be played in Pakistan in September 2008. The meeting,
held at the Cricket Centre, was convened by BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah.
The two names were conspicuous by their absense -Sourav Ganguly and Rahul
Dravid.
This thing can only happen in India when the 'best cricketer and best
batsman in Asian Cricket in 2007' ,does not get included even in 30
probables!
Perhaps even worse is - despite such a glorious performance by Sourav all
through 2007 in both version of cricket, there is none to back him - not the
media and not even the crowd !
A little lacklustre Sourav got more support from every quarter when he
was dropped in 2005.
But today after such a fairytale revival , he is alone and media is silent !
We are a spineless nation of 110+cr. people whose vision is marred by
corruption, value less ness, regionalism ,opportunism and parochialism.
We all are same --the politician, the journalists, the commoners....We are all
a bunch of morons.
Every non sense is now accepted and nothing hurts our conscience any more !
